Committees

 

BOMA/Suburban Chicago is supported in its work by standing and special committees. At different times, different committees have been called into service.

STANDING COMMITTEES

The ASSOCIATES COMMITTEE mission is to help provide quality Associate members for the benefit of both the Regular Members and the Associate Members. It serves as the representative body for vendor members and develops and supports the interactions between Regular and Associate members. The Associates Committee meets monthly in Schaumburg. Chairman: Michael Pentz 630/279-7171

The AWARDS COMMITTEE mission is to encourage participation in the TOBY Award process for both members and potential members and to provide recognition to the owners and managers of outstanding suburban buildings. It coordinates the annual The Office Building of the Year competition and recognizes members for service to the association.  The committee meets as needed in Schaumburg.  Chairman: Maggie Amaya, FMA, RPA, 630/919-1035

The EDUCATION COMMITTEE mission is to provide educational and designation courses and curriculum to keep the membership current and trained in the requirements of their profession and continually strive to raise the level and quality of professionalism within the industry and profession. It plans, conducts and oversees study programs and seminars, including those offered by BOMI International and BOMA International and sponsored by BOMA/Suburban Chicago. The Education Committee meets six times a year in Schaumburg. Chairman: Nancy Ross, FMA, RPA, 630/357-3779 

The ENERGY COMMITTEE mission is to provide BOMA/Suburban Chicago members with up-to-date information on energy services, products and regulatory issues. It examines and monitors programs to provide energy savings for BOMA member properties. The Energy Committee meets monthly in the Schaumburg area and other locations. Chairman: Paul Zaccarine, 847/545-1800

The ENGINEERS COMMITTEE plans programs and events for engineers from BOMA/Suburban Chicago member buildings, including the bimonthly engineers breakfasts where engineers have an opportunity to exchange information and network with their peers.  The committee meets bimonthly in Schaumburg.  Chairman: John Millhuff, FMA, RPA, SMA, 630/852-6868

The FINANCE COMMITTEE reviews and prepares the annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors and monitors the financial activities of the Association. The Finance Committee meets quarterly in Schaumburg. Chairman: Debby Pyznarski, RPA, 630/655-9091

The GOLF COMMITTEE mission is to provide the premier social event bringing all BOMA members together for social interaction and enjoyment. The committee plans the annual Golf Outing. The Golf Committee meets as needed in Schaumburg. Chairman: Brett Simpson, 847/832-4077

The GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE mission is to identify issues that impact the commercial real estate industry and influence the decision-makers in our government through member awareness and advocacy efforts. It monitors, studies and recommends policy direction and advocacy strategies on legislative and regulatory matters which affect the office building industry. The Government Affairs Committee meets quarterly in Schaumburg. Chairman: Lance Knez, RPA, 312/379-6400

The AD HOC GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE periodically reviews and updates the governing documents of the Association, including the bylaws and policies.  Chairman: John Lambrecht, RPA.

The MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING COMMITTEE plans programs and disseminates information  for members and nonmembers involved in medical office and healthcare facility management.  The committee meets quarterly in Schaumburg and other locations.  Chairman: Ted McKenna, 847/733-9701. 

The MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE mission is to provide an environment that brings people together to accomplish common goals through networking and to promote participation in this environment by defining the benefits of membership attained through commitment and participation. It plans, coordinates and conducts the ongoing membership campaign of the Association. The Membership Committee meets eight times a year in Schaumburg. Chairman: Jan Wemple, 847/564-9393

The NETWORKING COMMITTEE mission is to provide interactive activities and networking opportunities for all levels of membership within the Association. It plans, coordinates and conducts Showcase events and social events. The Networking Committee meets bimonthly in Schaumburg. Chairman: Andy Grzebien, 312/787-1800

The AD HOC NOMINATING COMMITTEE is charged with nominating one candidate for each of the offices to be filled at the annual election of Officers and Directors of BOMA/Suburban Chicago. The Committee is chaired by the Immediate Past President and membership on the Committee is by appointment. Chairman: John Lambrecht, RPA

The AD HOC OFFICE CONDO COMMITTEE is exploring the programming needs of commercial office condo properties.  (Staff-managed)

The PROGRAM COMMITTEE mission is to provide interesting and informative speakers for BOMA/Suburban Chicago luncheons. It plans and coordinates the program for the bimonthly General Membership meetings. The Program Committee meets quarterly in Oak Brook. Chairman: Kimberly DeFily, 630/954-7500

The PUBLICATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE plans and reviews editorial copy for BOMA/Suburban Chicago's magazine partner.  (Staff-managed)

The SAFETY & SECURITY COMMITTEE is committed to supporting BOMA/Suburban Chicago by investigating and implementing policies and procedures that pertain to safety and security for the membership and surrounding community.  It keeps members apprised of current security related issues, crime trends and events.  The committee meets quarterly in Schaumburg. Chairman: Marni Chiero, 847/823-7676

The STRATEGIC LONG-RANGE PLAN COMMITTEE is charged with developing a mission statement, plan and goals for BOMA/Suburban Chicago. Once completed, the Committee will monitor and assess the progress of the Association and review and extend the plan on an annual basis. Chairman: Nancy Ross, FMA, RPA, 630/357-3779 

The TRADE SHOW COMMITTEE mission is to provide an opportunity for Associate Members to display and communicate to property managers what their companies can do for them. This is accomplished via booths and stimulating interest, as well as developing vendor-to-vendor relationships. The Committee plans a trade show for the industry featuring BOMA Associates as exhibitors. The Trade Show Committee meets as needed in Schaumburg. Chairman: Tom Kelly, 847/395-7120

Note: Meeting frequency and location is subject to change.

BOMA/Suburban Chicago members may serve on one committee. Committees shall have no more than eight members.
